Williamsburg Torch Club 

The Torch Club of Williamsburg’s board did not meet in July or August, but that does not mean things have been quiet. The summer has been busy with various events, as well as planning for the new season.

Here is a quick summary of some of the events and preparation:

• Two board members attended the International Association of Torch Club’s (IATC) International Convention in Winston-Salem, NC. It was a weekend full of concurrent sessions on fascinating topics (see image below), meetings on club operations, tours of the city, and plenty of meals to discuss club activities around the country.
• Members from five local Torch Clubs met in Williamsburg last month for a special showing of the collection at the Colin G. and Nancy N. Campbell Archaeology Center. Peter Mellette did a great job organizing this event. You can read more about it at this link.
• The Audit Committee initiated its work on the annual review of the club’s revenue and expenditures. The committee is still looking for any member who might want to assist with this audit.
• The contract with Colonial Heritage was finalized for the new season. We can continue to plan on fine meals and helpful service from the team at Colonial Heritage.

We have a great season ahead of us. You can go to our presentations page for more on the upcoming talks. Ideas for future presentations are always welcome.

Finally, Peter is sending out invoices to members for the new season, so watch your email. You will see a slight decrease in meal prices if you can pay for the entire year up front. With every other cost seeming to increase, the board thought it would be a nice surprise.
