Attendees at the May dinner learned more about Virginia politician Harry F. Byrd Sr. and his impact on Virginia through Denise Harrington’s presentation, titled “Harry Byrd: Why His Influence Still Matters in Virginia Politics Today.”
Denise focused her presentation on the League of Women’s Voters’ education-related priorities during the latest convening of the Virginia General Assembly, highlighting the status of various bills to support and fund education to overcome some of the legacies from the past. She also shared her own experiences dealing with Virginia’s school integration policies and practices.
