Members and guests at the November dinner of the Torch Club of Williamsburg had the rare treat of learning about the circus through the experiences of member Rev. David Tetrault, who presented “Life with the Circus. “

Rev. Tetrault, who has been an Episcopal priest since 1973, served for about 15 years as one of two official chaplains for Ringing Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s The Greatest Show on Earth. In his presentation, he discussed his fascination since childhood with the circus as well as his great luck to be part of the circus as part of his career.

Rev. Tetrault told stories about his close friendships with the employees, the exhilaration of witnessing such talent up close, and his fascination with the determination and commitment needed to continually perform at such a high level. His insights provided the room with a behind the curtain view of the Greatest Show on Earth.

If you missed the November presentation, don’t worry. The Torch Club of Williamsburg has another dinner presentation in December, this time from Camilla Buchanan and Deb Hill who will discuss “Adventures Biking Around the World.” It will be another fun evening that you do not want to miss.

Please consider visiting our Torch Club if you are interested in presentations such as this one as well as many others planned through the season. Go to this link for a full list of past and upcoming presentations.
