Attendees at the January 21 meeting of the Williamsburg Torch Club were treated to a fun presentation titled “Getting to Know Our Pollinators” by Torch Club member Susan Dippre. Ms. Dippre, who has extensive experience with gardening, was happy to share tips with everyone at the meeting.
The discussion centered on the variety of pollinators in our community, the plants they pollinate, and the source of pollen that cause “hay fever” every season. Ms. Dippre addressed numerous questions throughout the evening, including the role of beekeepers today as well as ways to deal with carpenter bees on one’s house.
A presentation on colorful plants and their pollinators was the perfect topic on a snowy, winter evening. We all left the dinner with a little bit of spring in our step as we brushed the snow from our cars.
