Last month, Torch Club member Dr. Casey-Rutland gave an enlightening presentation titled “What is a HOA and How Do They Work?” The presentation and discussion it generated covered a wide variety of Home Ownership Association (HOA) topics, such as the types of community associations, the advantages/disadvantages of living in an HOA, and the growth of HOA in Virginia and across the nation (see graphic below demonstrating the growth of HOAs since 1970).
